MT. BAKER TIDBITS:
• Mt. Baker Ski Area holds the world record for snowfall in the winter of 1998-1999 with 1,140 inches. We also have the most average annual snowfall of any ski area in North America, with 647 inches of average annual snowfall.

• Baker was one of the first ski areas in North America (or the world for that matter) to “allow” snowboarding unrestricted and is the home of many world class snowboarders.

• Mt. Baker was founded in 1952. Duncan Howat has been the General Manager of Baker since 1968 and many of our core full-time staff have been at Baker 25 years or more.

• Mt. Baker hosts the longest running snowboarding event in the world, The Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom. February 2010 will be the 25th Banked Slalom.

WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT US:

"Often described as the heart of snowboarding, Mt. Baker provides the most incredible terrain for snowboarding, per square inc, than any other place on the planet."

- Australia New Zealand Snowboarding Magazine • Issue 1: 2007

"Baker gets more snow than any other resort in North America, but it’s actually the terrain that makes this mountain so great. Solid vert and Alaskan-style descents are all commonplace at Baker, and it’s all within minutes of a chairlift. "

- Freeskier Magazine • 2006

"Local ownership, family-style management and a democratic vision created the unified force steering the [Mt. Baker] ski area toward sustainability. Starbucks, condos and sprawl have been intentionally left off the list in favor of ski-in/ski-out parking, diesel-powered chairs and a mindful preservation of the staggering alpine wilderness that frames the area."

- Powder Magazine • December 2006
